The next best thing we've seen in the water was a snake and a dead turtle with a seagull on its back. Not to say that we are bored. Quite the contrary. John has been surfing daily here Puerto Escondido which is probably a good thing after soaking up some McDonalds grease in Alcapulco, a bad interpretation of LA in Mexico. John wants to hang out here as long as possible and I am hesitant to believe it is the waves not the topless women that draw his attention. Spot and John have been attentive fisherman while cruising. In a 4 hour period they hooked 3 fish and only brought one into the boat. Needless to say it was the reels fault which John quickly dissassembled, springs and all. It is still in 40 pieces floating around our boat. I am getting tired of eating tuna and even more tired of bleeding, gutting, and fileting the fish (which, if you check, isn't in the definition of fisherman). Fortunately we discovered that pour a sufficient amount of alcohol down the fishes mouth exepmts you from beating it to death with a winch handle. I hope we don't catch any marlin or else we'll be out of booze. We are now approaching a notoriously windy stretch of bay nicknamed the T-Peckers. Unfortunately that will mean no quick catnaps for me during my night shift or else we'll end up on land. John is much more alert on his shifts and even stars on the horizon call for a change of course and much anxiety. Spot is actually the best watch of the three of us accutely aware of dolphins and flapping sails. On land he's pretty good at suprise attacks on horses and 'odd' looking people which can mean anyone with a beard (John now has one), a hat, or Lennon glasses. We are still stumped by his erratic behavior. For once we are the largest boat in the bay. Unfortunately, or not, we are also the only boat perhaps because every afternoon the waves pick up and our boat looks like the newest adventure ride in Disney Land. I am still trying to teach John to cap all liquids BEFORE they spill. As previously mentioned, there really isn't much to report other than sunny weather, head and a half waves and burgers/fries for 2 bucks. Hope all is well elsewhere.
